POSITION OVERVIEW
The YMCA is seeking an energetic, passionate, and organized leader to serve as the Camp and Family Engagement Director. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on creating a fun and safe camp culture, developing engaging programs, and leading a team with enthusiasm. Reporting to the Senior Director of Youth Development, this individual will oversee the planning, development, and execution of high-quality summer and year-round youth/family programs, ensuring children have an exceptional and memorable experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
✅ Leadership & Culture-Building
- Set the tone for a dynamic and inclusive camp environment where kids feel safe, engaged, and excited to participate.
- Recruit, train, and mentor a team of passionate staff to deliver high-quality programming.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work culture that aligns with YMCA values.
✅ Program & Curriculum Development
- Design and implement creative, fun, and educational activities for Summer Day Camp, STEAM Camp, Wrap Camp, and School’s Out Fun Days.
- Ensure all programming promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living.
- Lead hands-on activities, games, and learning experiences that keep kids excited and engaged.
✅ Operational Excellence
- Develop and maintain organized schedules, ensuring seamless daily operations.
- Oversee budget management, program registrations, and marketing efforts to maximize participation.
- Maintain compliance with all state, local, and YMCA safety regulations and licensing requirements.
- Coordinate transportation for field trips and manage program supplies efficiently.
✅ Community Engagement & Family Involvement
- Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and community partners.
- Plan and execute family engagement events that foster a deeper connection between the YMCA and local families.
- Act as a positive YMCA ambassador, supporting fundraising initiatives and special events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 21 years old with a Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, social work, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience working with school-aged children, plus 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Strong ability to lead, inspire, and manage a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel between work sites.
