Statement of Primary Purpose
Provide leadership and fulfill administrative, instructional, and coordinative duties in the Health Sciences division with technical and workforce development programs. Includes coordination of day, evening, weekend, off-campus, and online course work for the division.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Management of Health Science Division components of the college :
- Promote an environment conducive to learning and maintaining high standards in all classes
- Implement shared governance with health sciences faculty
- Coordinate the development of new class offerings
- Review the development of course competencies
- Monitor methods of assessment in the program and courses
- Maintain program publications
- Participate in marketing activities
- Administer academic policies and procedures
- Ensure the development of appropriate course outlines and syllabi
- Monitor the currency of instructional resources
- Promote the development of innovative instruction
- Monitor and coordinate the development of the schedule
- Review and approve textbook adoptions
- Review and assist with the development of documents required to maintain all program accreditations and approvals
- Keep current on changes in the Articulation Agreements and communicate those to divisional advisors
- Maintain an effective and productive relationship with the health care community to ensure ongoing partnerships for clinical education, instruction and financial support.
- Coordinate with other instructional areas and the appropriate deans to ensure students' needs are being met in arts and sciences and career courses they will need to complete their allied health program of study
- Provide reporting and coordination of health sciences grants
Facilitate program review and planning process :
Assist faculty in establishing and executing short- and long- term program goalsParticipate in data gathering, interpretation, and evaluation activitiesCollaborate with faculty in periodic reviews of planning and goal attainmentRevise and update curriculumProvide student related services for Health Sciences Division :
Organize and participate in student recruitment activitiesParticipate in student orientationEvaluate transfer, advanced placement credit, and appropriateness of credit by exam requestAdvise, register, and counsel studentsEvaluate student needs and refer as neededParticipate in student marketing and retention strategiesParticipate in student grievance resolutionEnsure due process for student disciplinary and appeal issuesReview graduation eligibility of studentsProvide support for successful completion, employment, and transfer of studentsAdminister faculty and staff operations of Health Sciences Division :
Directly supervise 20-25 full-time instructors, 10-15 part-time instructors, and divisional administrative assistantPromote a collaborative work environmentPromote professional standards and protocolDetermine staffing needs and establish qualificationsParticipate in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting faculty and staffRecruit, interview, and hire divisional part-time facultyEnsure completion of personnel filesParticipate in orientation of faculty and staffAssign and monitor workloadsIdentify and procure resources needed by faculty and staffEvaluate performance of faculty and staffPlan and participate in professional development activitiesServe as liaison between faculty and staff and administrationFacilitate the resolution of faculty and staff conflictsApprove all leave, travel, and purchase requests of faculty and staffConduct divisional faculty and committee meetingsRecommend review processes of faculty and staffManage budgets for academic programs in the Health Sciences Division :
Collaborate with faculty to project future funding needsRequest interim and annual program fundingAllocate and reallocate funds based on departmental, divisional, and institutional prioritiesAuthorize purchase of equipment and supplies and maintain vendor relationsCollaborate with Foundation and Grants office to pursue alternative funding sources through grants, donations, and external partnershipsMonitor expenditures and provide periodic reports to faculty and senior administrationVerify and submit staff payroll informationEffectively meet deadlinesManage supplies and equipment for Health Sciences Division :
Project future needsMonitor inventory of supplies and equipmentWrite equipment specifications and communicate with vendorsApprove supply and equipment ordersAuthorize repair and maintenance of equipmentMonitor procedures for ensuring security of equipment and suppliesConduct safety reviews to ensure safe use of facilities, supplies, and equipmentResearch and evaluate emerging technologyProvide Leadership and Instruction in Related Health Sciences Courses :
Plan and deliver instruction for one course each semesterDevelop course syllabus and select textbooks and course materialsAdvise students toward completion of certificate, diploma and degree programsEmploy appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.Stay current in the subject matter through professional development, professional organizations, and professional meetings, conferences, or workshops.Use current technologies to enhance teaching and learning.Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.Facilitate the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives.Incorporate relevant general education competencies into assignments and assessments.Develop, update, and share course syllabi in a timely manner.Establish meaningful student learning outcomes for courses.Develop and implement methods that measure student progress toward student learning outcomes.Evaluate student performance fairly and provide feedback on student work promptly to promote learning.Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grade records according to established deadlines.Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master's degree in Education or Health Related Field.
Knowledge and Skills
Teaching and administrative experience leading to this level of responsibility. Demonstration of skills in the areas of : communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community groups, and others; and demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment.
Physical Demands
Requires work consistent with that typically found in an office / campus setting.
Licensing Requirement
Valid NC Driver’s license
Working Conditions and Environment
Ability to accommodate a flexible working schedule. Travel within service area for instructional supervision and student recruiting. Occasional overnight travel for professional development.
Equipment Operation
Computer with office and instructional software and applications.
