Statement of Primary Purpose
Adjunct Instructor for Social and Human Services Program provides quality instruction and student support in human services, social work, mental health, and addiction and recovery courses. Depending on the course format, classes may be taught entirely online, hybrid synchronous, or in-person. This position contributes to the college’s mission by educating and preparing students for careers in social and human services-related fields.

Curriculum faculty, Adjunct, exempt.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Instruction :
Develop and deliver engaging course content per the college curriculum and learning objectives following course outlines and published course schedules.
Student Support :
Foster an inclusive learning environment, provide academic support, and encourage student participation.
Assessment :
Evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams, providing constructive feedback.
Course Management :
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress and submit all college reports in an accurate, timely fashion.
Prepare, review, and update course outlines on a regular basis.
Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary.
Collaboration :
Participate in department meetings, curriculum development, and assessment initiatives as needed.
Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and course.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others.
Professional Development :
Stay current with trends and best practices in social and human services and incorporate them into teaching.
Maintain professional competence
Compliance :
Adhere to college policies, including academic integrity and accessibility standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Required : Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Human Services. Minimum of 3 years of experience in counseling is required.
Preferred : Master’s degree . Additional experience in Instruction preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Preferred experience with web-based course development and online learning management systems. Instructor will be able to demonstrate effective counseling skills, interviewing, assessment and treatment planning. Demonstration of these skills is vital to instruction throughout course work.
Physical Demands
The role may require periods of sitting or standing, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds for classroom materials
Licensing Requirement
Preferred Licensure in social work, or Licensed Professional Counselor, North Carolina certified in Substance Abuse, or Certified Clinical Supervisor.
Working Conditions and Environment
Work hours may be flexible
Equipment Operation
Must be proficient user of computers, webcams, projectors, and learning management systems for in-person, hybrid, and online instruction
