Student Affairs Coordinator
Southwestern Law School seeks a Student Affairs Coordinator with a deep passion for student engagement and success. The Student Affairs Coordinator serves as the individual that develops, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive number of student programs that enhances the educational experience for students on the Southwestern campus. The Student Affairs Coordinator works closely with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Director of Student Affairs to (1) coordinate mentorship and leadership programs (2) advise student organizations and honors programs, including managing multiple budgets and processes, and (3) work with student leaders to coordinate campus-wide programs including Barrister’s Ball and the Intramural Competition, and (4) work closely with Southwestern faculty and staff to continue to provide a personable and vibrant educational environment. This non-exempt position reports to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Director of Student Affairs. This is a primarily in-person position with some remote work available.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversees and manages the monthly budget processes for student organizations, including American Express reconciliation packets and fundraising totals.
- Trains student leaders to be fiscally responsible and develops financial planning procedures for student budgets.
- Supports the department with budget management, including processing monthly American Express reconciliation packets for the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
- Advises the student organizations, including the Student Bar Association (SBA), honors programs, and 40 diverse and professional student organizations, to develop programs and events for the Southwestern Community.
- Continues to develop, implement, and coordinate programs, events, and travel for the Southwestern Honors Organizations – Moot Court, TAHP, Negotiation, Law Journal, and Law Review.
- Coordinates annual programs, including the Intramural Competition and Banquet, Summer Introduction to Legal Writing, Leadership Bootcamp, Law Review / Law Journal symposia, etc.
- Assists the Director in developing, implementing, and assessing programs, events, and materials for the first-year Orientation program.
- Assists the Director with organizing and managing the first-year Peer Mentor Program (PMP), including training and selection.
- Represent the law school as a member of professional organizations and contribute to professional advancement in the field.
- Completes general administrative duties, including serving as the first point of contact in the office; scheduling and preparing for meetings and campus events; managing budgets; preparing correspondence, reports, and PowerPoint presentations; recordkeeping and other duties as assigned.
