Primary Purpose

The Student Dining Attendant/Cashier/Dishwasher plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming dining experience for students, staff, and visitors at Southwestern Oregon Community College. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining the dining area, cashiering OR washing dishes, sanitizing kitchenware, and assisting with general cleanliness to support smooth dining operations. Additionally, this role includes restocking essential items, and providing friendly assistance to guests as needed. As a key member of the Dining Services team, the Student Dining Attendant/Cashier/Dishwasher helps foster a safe, efficient, and community-oriented environment while gaining valuable hands-on experience in food service, teamwork, and sanitation practices. This position is ideal for students looking to develop strong work ethic, multitasking abilities, and customer service skills in a supportive and flexible on-campus job.

What You’ll Be Doing:


Student Dining Attendant/Cashier

  1. Running the Register – Process dining transactions quickly and accurately.

  2. Keeping the Dining Room Spotless – Wipe down tables and chairs, restock napkins and utensils, and ensure a clean, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

  3. Providing Great Customer Service – Greet guests, answer questions, and help create a positive dining experience.

  4. Basic Clean-Up – Sweep, take out trash, and maintain a tidy dining space.

  5. Enhancing the Atmosphere – Manage background music to create an inviting dining experience.

Student Dining Attendant/Dishwasher
  1. Maintaining the Dining Area – Wipe down tables and chairs, restock napkins and utensils, and ensure a clean, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  2. Dishwashing & Sanitation – Wash dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware, keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and organized.
  3. Cleaning & Trash Removal – Sweep and mop floors, take out trash, and assist in keeping all dining and kitchen spaces sanitary.
  4. Providing Friendly Service – Assist guests as needed and contribute to a positive dining environment.

  • Food Safety Conscious – Must obtain an Oregon Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire (SWOCC covers the cost!).
Previous customer service or cashier experience an/or current ServSafe Certification a plus!
