The Mechanical Engineering Order Manager is a key member of our leadership team that emphasizes a combination of technical, project management, team leadership, and communication skills. This role is multifaceted and requires a proven balance of management abilities, the capability to improve engineering processes and innovation and the ability to develop the Engineering department's technical skillsets. This role requires a blend of solid technical skills and leadership capabilities, the ability to guide a team of engineers while fostering an environment of collaboration, along with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Job / Order Workflow: Provide oversight for Job Orders as they flow in and out of the department, meeting key performance indicators of efficiency, on-time delivery to downstream customers and design quality
- People Management: Manage and support a team of engineers, ensuring resources, training, and support are available to succeed through coaching and training opportunities
- Project Leadership: Oversee and execute engineering programs and initiatives, ensuring proper staffing and efficient execution of projects, while maintaining order flow performance
- Communication: Provide clear communication both within the team, and with key stakeholders
- Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement: Identify roadblocks and challenges, implement solutions to improve productivity and the quality of engineering processes and design packages
- Strategic Contributions: Contribute to the development and improvement of new product offerings and ensure that new technologies are implemented effectively
Qualifications - Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of engineering supervisory/management experience
- Experience creating, maintaining, and utilizing metrics to drive engineering performance
- Experience managing a team of trained professionals in a cooperative environment to achieve results
- Skilled in engineering time estimating, scheduling, and managing a diverse engineering workload
- MS Office and other software for analytics and communication
- Understanding and following department procedures and directives
- Work effectively and accurately against deadlines, time constraints, and interruptions
