What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Scientist/Geologist position at Sovereign Consulting?
Sovereign Consulting Inc., a national environmental consulting and remediation firm, is seeking a Geologist / Environmental Scientist with 0-3 years of experience working in the New York area for its Cherry Hill/Robbinsville NY location.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities as well as required experience, which would be helpful include the following:
- Groundwater (including low-flow), soil, and air sampling
- Oversight of drilling including soil and groundwater borings, monitoring well installations, soil vapor and sub-slab vapor point installations
- Oversight of underground storage tank removal and drywell sampling
- Indoor and outdoor air sampling for soil vapor intrusion studies
- Knowledge and experience working with field meters such as an oil/water interface probe, PID, LEL, and multi-parameter water quality meters
- Supervision of subcontractors
- Ability to keep detailed comprehensive field notes
- Assist with preparation (drafting and assembling) of monitoring, investigation, and other technical reports, including the analytical data tables and graphs and report figures
- Assist with proposal preparation
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Adhering to strict health and safety protocols
- Tracking and following through with multiple / various assigned tasks
Requirements:
- 0-3 years of geology/environmental science related experience
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology or Environmental Science
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification required and current 8-hour refresher preferred
- Demonstrated technical writing skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite (primarily Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and knowledge of EQUIS a plus.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and field sampling skills

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
