Job purpose
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for specification, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing, and physical plant equipment, along with project work to improve the safety, quality, and performance of the manufacturing facility. Under the direction of the Plant Engineering Manager, the electrical engineer will work with the engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain automatic machines with PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatic controls.
- Able to utilize software to troubleshoot PLC's HMI's and AC Drives.
- Layout, install, adjust, and maintain a variety of electrical equipment such as wiring, motors, switches, controllers, and electrical mechanisms.
- Diagnose and remedy any electrical trouble quickly to avoid shutdowns.
- Determine necessary repairs, tear down, and reassemble machines.
- Maintain equipment drawings and documentation to utilize such references for timely repairs.
- Troubleshoot potential problems before machinery incurs additional expense or production downtime.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment as necessary.
- Demonstrate flexibility by being on-call as needed to maintain production schedules and remaining on the shift when needed to manage shifting priorities and demands.
- Perform preventative maintenance, 5S, improvement, and special projects, as well as perform other assigned tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities and this position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, walk, and stand. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and infrequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
