Summary:
The Lead Engineer plays a pivotal role on the SP Industries team, bringing technical expertise to every aspect of the organization with a focus on sustainable process development and cutting-edge engineering solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage workflow in and out of Engineering, ensuring seamless communication across departments.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Quality, Operations, and Sales teams, providing guidance and support when needed.
- Lead complex problem-solving efforts in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical areas, leveraging expertise to drive efficient resolutions.
- Oversee direct reports, prioritizing their time and activities to optimize productivity and quality.
- Pilot new product development and R&D initiatives, driving innovation and growth.
- Identify and implement process improvements, fostering a culture of sustainability and efficiency.
- Develop resource and staff planning strategies to ensure adequate coverage in applicable areas.
- Take on working manager responsibilities as needed, adapting to changing workload demands.
- Create structured systems and processes to maintain consistency and quality across all work.
- Cultivate strong communication skills, effectively interacting with customers, peers, and internal stakeholders.
- Lead quoting applications, focusing on data management, solution effectiveness, tool improvement, customer interaction, and post-order analysis.
- Foster a positive company culture, promoting high standards and expectations among team members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
- Professional Engineer License preferred.
- 5 years of experience designing machinery, preferably with leadership roles.
- Proven track record of leading small teams (3-5 people) and managing projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes, with a preference for electrical experience.
- Experience developing comprehensive design packages.
- Proficient with parametric 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Suite skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.).
Direct Reports: 2-3 direct reports initially, with plans to expand the team and capabilities.
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer.
