What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upright Shrink Operator position at SP Industries?
ATS Scientific Products, an ATS Company, is expanding our team and have immediate opening for an Upright Shrink Operator!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to run all lathe machines.
- Operator must know what produces certain conditions (heat, speed and vacuum) and how to correct them.
- Must have knowledge and maintain quality and production standards.
- Must have understanding of mandrels and their care.
- Basic knowledge of routine set-ups.
- Complete department related paperwork.
- Advise supervision when any out of standard condition occurs.
- Responsible for verify work according to specifications.
- Must observe all precautions, rules and regulations related to environmental, health and safety matters (i.e., PPE, properly disposing of waste, etc.).
- Capable of lifting 40 lbs.
- Capable of standing for long periods of time (3 hrs) in front of heat sources.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of glass experience
- Ability to read blueprints
- Interpersonal & Communication Skills
- Organizational & Time Management Skills

- Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
- Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
- Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
- Report defect in any equipment or protective device
- Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
- Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
- Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
- Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
- Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
