Seeking An Engaging Interviewer for Recorded Book Promotion Project
Job Summary
Are you a dynamic, social media-savvy interviewer / content creator with a passion for interviewing new authors, and with a strong academic background?
A published new author is seeking a skilled interviewer / social media content creator to create a series of recorded interviews (long & short clips) discussing their five books on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram video platforms.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified young grad student or a recent graduate in law, social media content creation, journalism, mass communication, and such like to build his or her portfolio and work on an exciting new books interview project!
About the Project:
The 5 published books cover the following topics: U.S. & Int’l space mining law (1 book), a pro-divorce book (1 book), Christian inspirational books (2 books), a novel about U.S. patriotism (1 book). Through this social media promotions project, the author wishes to introduce his writings to the world.
About the Candidate
The successful interviewer will conduct in-person interviews with the author, exploring the themes, characters, and inspiration behind each of the five books in separate sessions dedicated to each book. Multiple long and short recorded sessions for various social media platforms will be performed – mostly livestreamed.
A Bachelor’s. Master's degree, or PhD is preferred due to the complex subject matter of the works. Natural-born American English speaker is highly required for effective communication of the core academic subject matter of the author. This is not a learner’s opportunity.
Candidate must be comfortable in front of the camera and possess excellent communication skills. Prior experience with book reviews or author interviews and social media content creation are great pluses.
Candidate Responsibilities:
* Thoroughly read and familiarize yourself with all five books prior to the interview.
* Prepare insightful questions that delve into the key aspects of each book.
* Conduct engaging and informative interviews with the author.
* Maintain a professional, friendly, joyful, and courteous demeanor throughout the recording process.
Qualifications:
* American female interviewer with interest in multiple advanced subject matters.
* Extroverted and comfortable in front of the camera.
* Master's degree or PhD preferred. Bachelor’s degree may be considered.
* Excellent communication and interviewing skills.
* Ability to read and understand complex subject matter written in graduate level technical terms.
* Social media savvy: candidate must have prior exposure to social media creations: YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, etc.
*Ability to attend in-person rehearsal and recording sessions to be scheduled at any of the following George Mason University Campuses: Mason Square, Arlington, VA; GMU Fairfax, VA; or GMU SCITECH campus, Manassas VA; Starbucks outdoor locations if needed.
Compensation:
$30.00 - $50.00 per hour (based on experience)
Total Project Hours (projected): 10 -15 hours (spread out in a 1 or 2 weeks period)
Planned Locations: Any of the following George Mason University Campuses: Antonin Scalia Law, Mason Square, Arlington, VA; GMU Fairfax, VA; or GMU SCITECH campus, Manassas VA; Starbucks outdoors locations as needed.
