What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Configuration Management / Data Center Technician position at Space/Ground System Solutions Inc?
SGSS has an immediate on-site full-time opening for a Junior level, Configuration Management / Data Center Technician supporting a DOD programclient from the customer site in the Washington D.C. area and / or Blossom Point, MD. This role will actively assist the Sr. System Administrator(s) and Engineers with data center operational readiness (tools, people, end-user communications as needed, etc.) to include incident, problem tickets, service requests and change management tracking / documentation.
This role requires that the individual selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS / SCI security clearance with polygraph.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidate will be required to engage in physical data center activities with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes all tasks associated with planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, rack cabling, hardware and software troubleshooting, and rack decommissioning. These activities include the following :
- Support operations, maintaining and administering networks, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Monitor the performance of systems and networks, ensuring adherence to DISA STIG guidelines.
- Maintain the operational baseline and establish network standards to guarantee optimal performance.
- Working in cramped and / or elevated locations during equipment installation
- Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
- Lifting and moving material up to 49 pounds each
- Potentially standing and / or walking for up to 8 hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
- Work in active data center environment
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24 / 7 operations (covering both night and day shifts).
