Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Mechanical Drafter to create CAD drawings and technical schematics for customer approvals, mechanical components, products and installation details. You will work closely with the sales team, engineering, product support and production teams to transform concepts and specifications into accurate, construction and manufacturable designs using CAD software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings for product parts, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Translate engineering notes, sketches, and specifications into clear technical construction drawings.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturability requirements.
- Revise and update existing drawings to reflect changes in design or production methods.
- Maintain organized drawing files, version control, and documentation standards.
- Assist in preparing bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, and technical documentation.
- Perform tolerance analysis and apply GD&T standards when needed.
- Support prototype development and testing, including print modifications based on feedback.
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, internal procedures, and customer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, mechanical design, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience as a mechanical drafter or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Familiarity with ANSI/ASME drawing standards and GD&T.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the metal fabrication or wire mesh industry.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and document control processes.
- Knowledge of CNC programming or sheet metal design is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
