Spacesaver is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Spacesaver, you will be responsible for mechanical design and documentation of new product line extensions from concept through commercialization. You will work closely with Project Managers, Product Managers, Designers, and cross functional members throughout the organization.
A few of the Highlights of this Role Include:
- Generate design concepts using parametric solid and sheet metal modeling, and produce production drawings and specifications in accordance with relevant standards and ISO procedures, to include geometry, materials, finishes, fits, and tolerances as required to manufacture components and assemblies.
- Perform mechanical design calculations such as stress and deflection to ensure designs are safe and reliable.
- Evaluate designs and manufacturing methods to ensure products are cost effective.
- Prototype components and assemblies to validate manufacturability, fit, and function.
- Plan, execute, analyze, and document results of internal or external performance and reliability tests.
- Evaluate and conduct redesigns of existing products in order to reduce costs, improve manufacturability, or improve product performance.
- Assist sales teams and distribution partners with proper application of existing products, and evaluation of new product opportunities.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of product design experience. Qualified candidates must have experience with common manufacturing processes including: sheet metal fabrication, stamping, aluminum and steel welding, machining, extrusions, and plastic component design experience is preferred. Candidates best suited for this roll will have experience with solid modeling, Creo/ProE, electro-mechanical systems, power transmission design, ERP system familiarity, and must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
