The Spalding University Kosair for Kids College of Health and Natural Sciences is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to join the Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) education program.

JOB SUMMARY

The Spalding University Kosair for Kids College of Health and Natural Sciences is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to join the Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) education program. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in a CAATE accredited program, contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas, a scholarly agenda with recent dissemination of scholarship, and institutional or professional service. This position will support the MSAT mission of “meeting the needs of the time” by fostering excellence with classroom and clinical experience and by enhancing community engagement. The Assistant/Associate Professor position is a 44-week contract with primary teaching responsibilities.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant / Associate Professor is responsible for teaching assigned courses in the accredited MSAT curriculum, scholarship, and service, including, but not limited to:

  • Deliver core courses within the MSAT program with expertise in the domains of athletic training.
  • Engage in continuous program improvement by assessing, developing, and expanding current programming.
  • Maintain a student-focused agenda by serving as an advisor and mentor to all cohorts within the MSAT program.
  • Serve on academic committees such as curriculum development, assessment, and faculty governance, and participate in key university events such as orientation, graduation, and community outreach programs.
  • Actively participate in ongoing scholarly and community engagement activities.
  • Pursue continuous education, credentials, or qualifications that support and enhance the student education experience.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop innovative teaching methods and curriculum enhancements.
  • Engage in scholarly activities that contribute to the field of athletic training and support the academic mission of the university.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and contribute to the accreditation process as needed by assisting the Program Director with program administration duties associated with CAATE.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program and the university community.
  • Maintain all necessary records and documentation related to teaching, advising, and program activities in accordance to accreditation standards.
  • Assist the Program Director in program operations and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or EdD including those enrolled in a doctoral program who are ABD status
    • A required minimum of a master’s degree in athletic training, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field.
  • Ability to demonstrate contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas
  • Must have current BOC certification and be in good standing
  • Possession of, or eligibility to, obtain the Kentucky Athletic Training License.
  • Must have an NPI Number with the appropriate health care field designation.
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Ability to start on or prior to July 1st, 2025.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience working as a certified athletic trainer.
  • Knowledge and experience working with CAATE accreditation.
  • Evidence of academic contributions including but not limited to: conference presentations, poster presentations, publications, and student research advising.
  • Evidence of professional volunteerism and community engagement.
  • Experience working at the professional, semiprofessional, NCAA Division I setting, or emerging settings.
  • Experience working as a clinical preceptor for athletic training students.

Located in the heart of Louisville, Kentucky, the MSAT program prides itself on providing strong practical application and experiential learning opportunities for its students.
