About The Role
The primary function of the Anchorage Terminal Manager position is to verse the operations of the Anchorage terminal, overseeing all freight movement in Alaska.
What you’ll do: (this list is not all inclusive)
- Provide ongoing supervision to management/supervisory personnel
- Responsible for ensuring efficient operations by monitoring activity, costs, budgets, and processes
- Promote and direct ongoing communications by holding regular meetings and distributing information as appropriate
- Responsible for the administration of organizational policies and procedures, including safety, personnel and fiscal
- Enforce company compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations
- Collaborate with Equipment Manager to ensure the maintenance of the fleet of company vehicles
- Assist customers or staff as necessary
- Consistently follow all Span safety policy and procedures
- Enforce and adhere to Matson’s Code of Conduct
- Fill in for absent personnel if necessary (dispatch, drivers, customer service, purchasing, etc.)
- Assist sales reps if appropriate
- Approve and recommend expenditures
- Other duties as assigned
- Excellent communication skills are necessary as the position regularly interacts with employees, customers, vendors, contractors, and/or suppliers. Contacts may be face-to-face or via telephone. Communication is rarely about confidential information.
- Position supervises a wide variety of positions, providing general work direction. Position is responsible for employee retention, performance management, approval of time off, scheduling, training, coaching and corrective actions.

- Ability to remain current on relevant rules and regulations
- Knowledge of good lifting techniques
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics management, supply chain management, business, or other relevant field (management, warehousing, etc.) required
- Five years of relevant experience is required
- Must include management and transportation experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position
- Transportation Security Administration Certificate
- Clean driving record
- Forklift Certification
- Hazardous Materials Certification
- Medical Card
- Ability to push or pull heavy loads (up to 100 pounds)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to sit in a vehicle for long stretches of time
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to operate all equipment in office, warehouse or in a vehicle, which may include grasping, climbing, bending, handling, reaching, hand dexterity, feeling/touching and repetitive motions of the hands and feet
- Good body coordination and equilibrium
- Good manual dexterity
- Strong core strength
- Strong multi-limb coordination
- Ability to do repetitive motions which may include hand dexterity, grasping, reaching, bending, and/or feeling
- Work is performed mostly in an office or warehouse environment, occasionally could be outside in the elements, in a company vehicle. Exposure to exhaust fumes is likely. Overtime may be expected during summer months. Conditions may also include exposure to environmental noise.
