FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I

GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Division Manager and direct supervision of Facilities Maintenance Foreman and other skilled level staff performs a variety of semi-skilled trade work related to the maintenance, minor construction and renovation of Spanish Fork City physical facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs a variety of daily semi-skilled duties related to the construction, renovation, maintenance and repair of City buildings and facilities.
- Assists with and performs the preventive and scheduled maintenance of building and facility systems and equipment. Receives and responds to on-site direction from upper-level Maintenance Technicians.
- Assists with and performs with the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, backup power systems, switching equipment, electrical components, light fixtures, outlets, connections, switches, and routine wiring. Assists with and performs with the routine maintenance and installation of telephone, network and data systems.
- Assists with and performs the routine maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, makes filter replacements & thermostat calibration. Maintains related electrical systems, pneumatic controls, electrical and electronic controls, actuators, etc.; performs evaporative cooler maintenance and repair.
- Assists with and performs the installation and routine maintenance of plumbing systems; clears drain obstructions; maintains sinks, urinals, toilets; Assists with and performs the installation of plumbing lines for new construction and setting new fixtures; assists in the maintenance of boilers, domestic hot water systems and pumps.
- Assists with and performs general carpentry including the maintenance of physical aspects of the buildings such as window and door frames, doors, woodwork; assists in the fabrication of shelving; repairs furniture; repairs and replaces locks.
- Assists with and performs the routine maintenance on various types of building systems components including motors, pumps, valves, bearings, floats, pulleys, belts, switches, relays, automated access control & security systems, electrical receptacles, light ballasts, lighting electronic controls, fuses, circuit breakers, timers, transformers, wiring, telephones, fire sensors, door hardware, roofing, floor and ceiling repair, drywall, painting, staining, caulking, concrete installation & repair, etc.
- Assists with and performs all carpentry and construction aspects of new construction and renovation work on a semi- skilled level, in existing and new buildings, including but not limited to the installation or modification of footings, foundations, framing, plumbing, electrical & network wiring, insulation, drywall & taping, painting, staining, masonry, roofing, etc.
- Operates a variety of standard hand & power tools and equipment used in building construction, renovation, maintenance and repair activities. Operates a 1-ton utility bed vehicle and occasionally motorized man lifts including a bucket truck.
- Maintains cleanliness of work areas, vehicles and tools; picks up and delivers supplies, parts and materials.
- Performs snow removal using hand shovels, motorized equipment with rotary broom and blade attachments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, G.E.D or equivalent and 2 years of experience in a variety of trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, construction, electronics, or communications at a basic to intermediate level.
