Description
We are looking for a part-time phlebotomist to join our Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center laboratory team! In this role you will help out lab staff out by performing specimen collections on impatient, outpatient and emergency room patients. You may provide office support in the lab as needed.
Pay Range: $17.57-$22.41 per hour based on experience and qualifications (eligible for shift differentials).
Shift Differentials:
Weekday Nights - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 7:00 pm - 7:00 am - $3.00 per hour
Weekend Days - Saturday, Sunday - 7:00 am - 7:00 pm - $3.50 per hour
Weekend Nights - Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 7:00 pm - 7:00 am - $5.00 per hour
Essential Job Functions:
• Collect, handle and complete specimen collection processes, including proper identification, for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
• Receipt collected specimens through prescribed laboratory protocols.
• Package specimens for proper shipping; order reference lab tests as directed.
• Collects and prepares for shipment, Department of Transportation and non-Department of Transportation drug screenings.
• Greets patients/employees in person; answers the phone and responds to inquiries as needed.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory to ensure proper supply inventory used in blood collection and clerical sections of the laboratory.
• Restocks collection trays and maintains general cleanliness of the laboratory.
• Receives lab reports and routes as appropriate.
• Perform other functions as required to fulfill the expectations of the Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist.
Requirements
Minimum Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of accredited phlebotomy course with ASCP Phlebotomy Certification is required.
Pre-Employment Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
• Proficiency in completing phlebotomy skills.
• Ability to operate general office equipment including computer software applications (e-mail, surveillance equipment/cameras).
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn and utilize proper protocol for laboratory functions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration.
Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.
Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to complete tuberculosis screening process.
Licenses or Certificates: ASCP Phlebotomy Certification
Unusual Demands: Work is subject to recurring and inflexible deadlines and frequent interruptions.
