Join us on our mission to create a bigger and brighter future for children through a quality Spanish immersion program. As a passionate and talented Preschool Assistant Director you will be tasked with delivering an exceptional student experience by training and coaching our teaching staff.
For 25 years, Spanish Schoolhouse has served preschoolers from ages 18 months to 5 years old offering a premium curriculum and language immersion experience. As a result, thousands of students have gained an accelerated start to elementary school, fluency in a second language, and an appreciation and understanding of the Latin culture.
PURPOSE
The Assistant Director is responsible for delivering the SSH standard of academic excellence through teacher onboarding, training and coaching. They support the Director in fostering staff engagement and retention as well as ensuring compliance with state regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compliance: Support the Director in ensuring school operations comply with all state/local regulations.
- Hiring: Helps create a winning team by helping interview, select, and place great talent.
- Training & Onboarding: Delivers a quality onboarding experience for new teachers ensuring they are set-up for success. Provides on-going training & coaching to all teaching staff.
- Classroom Management: Ensures daily adherence to the SSH Way and Love & Logic in classroom behavior management. Assist with classroom discipline as needed.

Classroom Instruction: Reviews teacher’s written lesson plans in accordance with SSH programs and standards. Verify consistent implementation of SSH curriculum to include:
- Monitor continuity & implementation of written lesson plans
- Ensure correct classroom materials used (age appropriate)
- Track classroom needs, materials. Create shopping list for classroom materials.
- Check children’s artwork
- Ensure skills of the week used in classroom
- Oversee show songs/dances and provide guidance

Teacher Engagement: Support Director in fostering positive staff morale.
- Works with Director to hold regular meetings with staff to provide updates on events, issues, and curriculum.
- Provide feedback to Director for PEPI Performance Review feedback.
- Assist with planning and execution of teacher recognition programs.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Supports Director and Office Manager with coverage and special projects as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Some college credit hours in child development and at least 1 year of experience in a licensed child-care center OR
- Three years of teaching experience in a licensed child-care center
- Experience as a SSH teacher a plus
- MSOffice proficiency
- Spanish fluency required; conversational English proficiency is necessary
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimal overnight travel required (less than 5%)
- Able to lift 25 lbs.
