JOB SUMMARY
The Regulatory and Compliance Operations Specialist is an integral member of the Regulatory Department, reports to the Sr. Director, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance. The Specialist supports Legal, Regulatory and Compliance on a wide array of matters, including operational process compliance, regulatory investigations, knowledge database, corporate integrity issues and special projects. Duties are highly confidential and require comprehensive knowledge of the Company’s policies, procedures, operations, industry rules and regulations. Responsibilities require organization, discretion, judgment, tact, and poise. Manager must be discreet and use judgement to report matters to the Sr. Director.
- Assists the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Sr. Director compliance plan implementation, process development, regulatory investigations, and special projects, as assigned
- Manage and maintain regulatory knowledge database used by multiple departments
- Document and all regulatory, operations and business practices to ensure clarity and consistency
- Evaluate operational processes for completeness and compliance
- Maintain up-to-date information on the compliance and regulatory regulations in each jurisdiction where Spark and its affiliates operate
- Coordinating regulatory compliance procedures across organization
- Conducts independent reviews, audits, tests and drills, as appropriate, of the Company’s compliance activities, processes and documented guidance in order to monitor and report on status of compliance
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively within a team environment to audit, develop and recommend compliance action plans
- Maintains Regulatory and Compliance database of sales and operational collateral, ensuring compliance with the periodic review cycle and collateral updates; generates requested reports on policy review
- Schedules meetings, and performs administrative duties for compliance plans
- Performs research on appropriate topics, as assigned
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all corporate and personnel matters
- All other duties as assigned and as required
- REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree
- REQUIRED: 3 years prior experience working for retail energy supplier
- Understanding of the deregulated retail energy and natural gas markets
- Experience in compliance initiatives with energy/supply companies
- Exceptionally motivated with a high level of energy
- Ability to prioritize job requirements in a high pressure, multi-task environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Flexibility to work in fast-paced, lean environment; effectively multiple issues simultaneously; able to adapt quickly to new situations
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment for deregulated retail energy suppliers
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks and information quickly and efficiently
- Excellent dependability, judgement and discretion
- Willingness to take on projects outside of normal responsibilities
- Very strong computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to use personal computer, calculator, fax, etc.
- Could involve some lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time without much movement.
- Ability to work in time-sensitive environment with non-flexible deadlines.
- Ability to work overtime when needed.
