Manufacturing Engineer II
Position Summary :
Be an integral member of the business unit’s platform launch teams, while reporting to a central
manufacturing engineering functions. The manufacturing engineer primarily functions in planning
and prelaunch stages of product development.
Responsibilities of Position :
- Develop & Optimize Manufacturing Processes : Work with teams across manufacturing, quality, engineering, purchasing, and process design to create efficient production methods based on best practices and planned improvements. This includes designing work-cell process plans for platform launches.
- Support Early-Stage Design & Feasibility : Assist product engineering in assessing manufacturing feasibility during early design stages, ensuring smooth transitions to full production.
- Collaborate on Process Planning : Actively contributes to developing process flow diagrams, cost estimates, process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA), and pre-production control plans. Ensure all tasks are completed on schedule, in coordination with the platform manager.
- Assess & Improve Process Costs : Evaluate production costs, identifying opportunities for automation and waste reduction to lower expenses. Include capital investments in labor or material-saving innovations in cost estimates.
- Drive Cost Reduction & Quality Improvement : Play a key role in ongoing cost-saving and quality enhancement initiatives, including structured VA / VE studies and plant-specific improvement projects.
