Internal Communications Lead Job Summary:
We are seeking an Internal Communications Lead to join a tech company in Arlington, VA. In this role you will contribute in significant ways to the company’s overall success, focused on ensuring employees are kept informed, engaged, and motived. You will be tasked with improving employee’s affiliation to the company’s brand and help to retain their greatest asset – their people. You will collaborate across the company, engage with key stakeholders to communicate through numerous channels, elevate our mission, values and culture and develop detailed plans that support strategic communications and employee engagement.
Internal Communications Lead Responsibilities:
- Work closely with leaders across the company to establish key company messages.
- Assist in establishing an internal communications strategy; assess results and adjust tactics accordingly.
- Ensure company initiatives and projects are successfully and consistently communicated to employees and stakeholders.
- Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communication mediums, such as intranet, monthly CEO newsletter, All Hands Events and Board Presentations.
- Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different. departments of the company.
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
- Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team or external vendors as needed to further align content to the brand.
- Assist in delivering presentations at company events, as needed.
- Draft messages or scripts from Sr. Leaders for presentation to employees in written or spoken form.
- Assist Leadership Team and Key Personal in developing professional brands on key social media platforms (i.e., LinkedIn).
- Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
- Assist in responding to crisis situations which affect company perception and reputation.
Internal Communications Lead Qualifications:
- BA in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing is an advantage.
- 4-6 years of internal communications experience required.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, as well as the ability to source stories from leaders and employees.
- Ability to develop communication strategies that engage our greatest asset – our employees.
- Ability to suggest new communication vehicles and approaches that push boundaries.
- Strong relationship building skills to engage leaders and employees across the company.
- You will need to possess the confidence to present new ideas, explain our communication approach, etc.
