Key Responsibilities & Opportunities:
- Operational Leadership: Direct the daily operations of a sophisticated traffic management center, ensuring seamless traffic flow and rapid response to incidents. Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Real-Time Traffic Optimization: Utilize advanced systems to remotely adjust traffic signals, mitigating the impact of incidents, congestion, and construction. Develop and implement strategic diversion and evacuation plans, ensuring public safety and efficient traffic movement.
- Regional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with state and regional traffic management centers, as well as various stakeholders, to address complex traffic challenges and contribute to regional transportation initiatives.
- Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) Innovation: Drive the advancement of our ATMS by supporting design, implementation, and training initiatives. Leverage traffic data to generate insightful performance reports and optimize signal timing using industry-leading software like Synchro and SIM.
- Technology Integration & Future Mobility: Explore and implement cutting-edge technologies, including preparations for connected and autonomous vehicles (AV/CV). Be at the forefront of transportation innovation and contribute to the development of future-ready infrastructure.
- Construction & Development Impact Analysis: Review construction plans and temporary traffic control plans, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic flow. Conduct final roadway field inspections and ensure compliance with public works standards.
- Community Engagement & Problem Solving: Serve as a key liaison with the community, addressing traffic concerns and providing expert solutions. Represent transportation interests at public meetings and build strong relationships with citizens.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the operation of safety-critical systems, such as Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), comply with the latest MUTCD and FHWA standards.
Requirements:
- MUST be a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or have the ability to obtain one within 12 months from the date of hire.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- At least 3 years of post P.E. related project experience
