Job Summary:
Locally owned and operated renowned mortgage lending company is seeking Mortgage Collector to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for bringing accounts current, reducing delinquency, and lowering defaults by actively working with borrowers to resolve overdue accounts. This role requires strong communication skills, a customer-oriented mindset, and experience in collections.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Make outbound and take inbound calls on all delinquent accounts to resolve delinquencies.
- Send timely borrower notices in line with investor guidelines.
- Negotiate payment arrangements to prevent mortgage delinquency and foreclosure.
- Assess the debtor’s financial situation and recommend Loss Mitigation Programs when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, consumer privacy laws, and company policies.
- Perform skip tracing to locate debtors and document all collection efforts.
- Schedule property inspections and determine the condition of properties.
- Maintain detailed records and prepare monthly collection reports.
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, and photocopying.
- Cross-train staff on the collection process and procedures.
- Remit credit bureau file on a monthly basis.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous collection experience preferred.
- Proficient in computer systems and MS Office.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and carry out responsibilities with minimal direction.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and problems effectively.
- Professional attire and appearance required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
