What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Aide position at Sparta Area School District?
The School District of Sparta is seeking a full-time health aide for our Pre-K and Kindergarten population. The position will have a start date in August of 2025. The position is school year only with summer school options available for work. Full time benefits available.
Supervision/Evaluation: Health Aide will be evaluated by the District Nurse with input from the building principal.
Duties of the Position:
1. Follow student health care plans, under the direction of the District Nurse
2. Administer First Aid and/or CPR to any person in the building
3. Administer prescription and non-prescription medication to students under the direction of the District Nurse 4. Maintain complete and accurate student records, treating student and personnel information as confidential 5. Communicate the needs of students to District Nurse and Administrators as appropriate 6. Accurately input Medicaid eligible activities into the District approved Medicaid Billing company 7. Contact parents/guardians as needed
8. Assist in inventory control
9. Toileting, feeding via feeding tubes, monitoring students with diabetes, performing head lice checks, working with chronic health conditions that may include seizures, asthma, allergies, etc., student transferring, assisting with hearing and vision screening (training provided for medical procedures such as tube feeding). 10. Required to complete DPI approved training in the administration of prescription and non-prescription medication.
11. Stocking Health Rooms as needed
12. Other similar duties as assigned by District Nurse, Building Principal or Director of Pupil Services
Special Skills Required:
Perform routine first aid and emergency treatment for ill and injured student(s)
Establish and maintain records
Understand and follow oral and written directions
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Strong computer, telephone and organizational skills
Ability to ensure and preserve confidential information pertaining to position
Strong knowledge of child development
Able to be positive and professional at all times
Degree/Special Training Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. CPR/First Aid Certified
3. Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
4. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
Salary Placement: Level I Health Aide - $18.48/hour
Work Schedule of the Position: 7:30 am-3:30 pm, School Year calendar, 7.5 hours per day
