Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Metrology Technician to support quality assurance efforts by performing precise measurements, calibrating equipment, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role requires expertise in metrology methods, inspection processes, and quality control systems, particularly in CNC machining or aerospace manufacturing environments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in metrology, quality inspection, or related field, preferably in CNC machining or aerospace manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of precision measurement techniques, GD&T, and quality inspection processes.
- Experience operating CMMs, laser scanners, optical comparators, and other metrology equipment.
- Proficiency in ERP, MES, and QMS systems related to quality control.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform precision measurements using advanced metrology tools, including CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), laser trackers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and in-process quality checks to ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
- Maintain and calibrate measurement equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Interpret technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and engineering specifications.
- Document measurement results and generate detailed inspection reports.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality issues.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve dimensional and quality-related concerns.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to metrology and calibration processes.
Location: This position is based in Hilton Head Island, SC.
