District Wide Assistant Systems Technician
Considers data privacy and security in all systems and tasks.
Account Provisioning : Uses data from HR, meeting agendas and internal requests, along with student data privacy regulations (FERPA), to inform the creation, licensing, access level, management and termination of staff and student user accounts across several critical systems. Focus areas include :
Google Workspace for Education
Active Directory
Genesis SIS
Other systems and apps that sync users with the above.
System Management
Genesis SIS - creates, manages and disables staff user accounts, troubleshoots support requests, e.g. a teacher cannot see one of their students in the system, or a user does not have access to a screen needed to complete their job. Escalates issues as needed.
Clever - onboards / offboards application, sets and maintains app sharing rules. Troubleshoots user access issues. Updates and deploys Parent Portal forms and documents.
GoGuardian - researches student activity when requested, manages website whitelisting and blacklisting, troubleshoots user issues.
Thrillshare website / app CMS - manages staff user accounts, builds / edits and manages district-wide content, and assists schools with their subsites as needed. Audits site content and makes enhancements for accuracy, consistency, accessibility and user experience.
Thrillshare Alerts - oversees email / SMS / TTS communication system, automated attendance alerts. Manages / creates contact source data and custom call lists. Troubleshoots contacts not receiving communication. Manages staff user accounts.
Google Workspace - user creation, management and suspension, license management, Drive / data ownership transfers, executes investigation requests, troubleshoots alerts.
Support Ticket System - independently prioritizes, troubleshoots and resolves requests in a timely manner. Communicates progress with stakeholders. Documents issues and resolutions via staff and department knowledge base.
Assists with annual system rollovers.
Independently seeks out and reviews documentation and participates in relevant available training for all systems.
Directly supports onboarding / offboarding of systems / apps.
IT Department
Contributes to IT Department planning for future projects, enhancements and timelines.
Surfaces opportunities to streamline or enhance processes and procedures.
Support the team by covering appropriate tickets / requests when other team members are away or competing projects create backlogs.
Plans and shares time off in advance.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Ability to learn and apply FERPA, ADA and other regulations.
High level of integrity in accessing and protecting confidential and sensitive information.
Positive, service-oriented approach; ability to communicate with staff of all levels and technical capabilities.
Intellectual curiosity to learn continuously, surface concerns, improve processes and devise novel solutions.Independently seeks out documentation and training.
Able to quickly master several critical systems with differing UIs and capabilities.
Understanding of IT troubleshooting methodology.
Experience provisioning user accounts of varying access levels.
Experience working in Google Workspace, Admin Console.
Google apps expertise (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, Calendar, Classroom).
Understanding usage of OUs / directories to organize users and manage access.
Understanding of MFA, SSO and user credential best practices.
Reviews and adheres to STPS Board of Education policies and regulations.
Comfortable performing repetitive tasks and troubleshooting ambiguous support requests, some of which end up not being a systems problem, but simple user error.
