Payroll Manager Location: Near Novi, Michigan
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $95,000 - $115,000
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the payroll functions of our organization. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with federal and state regulations, and seamless coordination with HR and finance teams. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and expertise in payroll systems and processes.
Key Aspects of the Human Resources Payroll Manager RolePayroll Oversight & Compliance
Manage payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws.
Oversee tax reporting, garnishments, and year-end reporting.
Optimize payroll system integration with HRIS.
Union & Labor Relations
Handle grievance meetings, contract negotiations, and investigations.
Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
Support leadership in labor strategy and workforce planning.
Team Leadership & Operations
Supervise payroll specialists and HR staff.
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training.
Improve payroll and HR processes for efficiency and accuracy.
Multi-Site Support & Travel
Oversee payroll and HR functions across multiple locations.
Travel to OH to support operations.
Compliance & Audits
Ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to labor laws.
Support internal and external audits.
Recommend and implement policy improvements.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
MS or MA, MBA is a strong plus.
Minimum of at least 3 years of HR-related experience required.
Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Experience with payroll software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Experience managing payroll for union and non-union employees
Proven abilities in process improvement also a plus.
Ability to lead, create, and host HR-related training.
