Job Title : Welder / Fabricator
Location : Grand Rapids, MI (On-Site)
Salary : $25 - $30 per hour (Based on experience)
Role Summary :
Our client is seeking an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join their team in Grand Rapids, MI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components according to blueprints and specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, precision, and adherence to safety standards in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Key Qualifications the Hiring Manager is Looking For : Technical Must-Haves :
GMAW-P (Pulsed MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding experience
Ability to pass a 2G plate test in both GMAW and GTAW
Experience welding 46100 (HH) armored steel in 2G & 3G positions
ER307 stainless steel filler material experience
AWS D1.1 certification preferred
Blueprint reading & fixture creation skills
Physical & Work Environment :
Able to lift / push up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 80 lbs)
Comfortable with standing work, bending, and moving throughout the facility
Vision requirements : Close, distance, color, depth perception
Shift & Schedule :
First and Second Shift openings
Standard : Monday – Thursday (10-hour shifts)
Required Qualifications :
Minimum of 4 years of welding experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings .
Experience working with various metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel .
Strong understanding of welding symbols and specifications .
Compliance with OSHA safety standards and company policies .
Desired Qualifications :
Certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent.
Experience operating welding robots or CNC machinery .
Previous experience in structural, pipe, or custom fabrication welding .
Strong troubleshooting skills for welding defects and adjustments.
