About the Role
Spartan Carrier Group is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee our 3PL (third-party logistics) operations. This key position is responsible for managing relationships with logistics providers, ensuring a seamless supply chain, and delivering exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in managing high-performance logistics operations within a startup environment, along with a strong customer-facing skillset to drive partnerships and operational excellence.
As the Logistics Manager (3PL), you will play a vital role in scaling our logistics capabilities to meet the growing demands of our customers. You will develop and implement logistics strategies, manage day-to-day operations, and work collaboratively across teams to ensure high-quality experience throughout the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- 3PL Operations Management:
Oversee and manage 3PL operations, including lane scheduling and execution, lead routing instruction process, and network operations optimization initiatives.
Optimize 3PL performance by tracking and analyzing key metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, continuous improvement and cost savings & avoidance).
Develop and implement strategies to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels across logistics providers and customer locations.
- Customer Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for customer-facing logistics interactions, ensuring that 3PL operations align with customer expectations.
Work closely with customer support teams to resolve issues, provide accurate tracking information, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Act as a liaison between customer and 3PL partners, balancing customer needs with operational capacity and priorities.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner with teams in our dedicated transportation operations, operations management center, engineering and finance to forecast demand and align logistics operations.
Collaborate with our systems and engineering teams to continuously improve logistics planning and execution.
Ensure alignment between internal teams and 3PL partners for smooth execution of network redesigns, customer plant launches, and customer volume fluctuations.
- Strategic Planning and Execution:
Develop, execute, and refine the logistics strategy for scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Lead initiatives to integrate new technologies and automation within logistics operations.
Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, customer satisfaction, and financial impact, presenting findings and recommendations to leadership and customers.
- Process Improvement & Optimization:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency, and accuracy within 3PL operations.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including warehouse layout optimization, routing optimization, and inventory accuracy enhancements.
Conduct regular audits and root-cause analyses on service failures and implement corrective actions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience:
7 years of logistics or supply chain management experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role managing 3PL operations.
Demonstrated experience in a high-growth or startup environment, with proven success in scaling logistics operations.
Direct experience in customer-facing roles, preferably with a strong track record of managing customer expectations and delivering high-quality service.
Experience with LTL, overseas, and international freight is a big plus.
- Technical Skills:
Proficiency in ERP and WMS systems, as well as experience with data analytics and forecasting tools.
Strong understanding of supply chain principles, including inventory management, distribution planning, and transportation operations.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.

High level of adaptability and a proactive approach, particularly in a fast-paced startup setting.
Strong negotiation skills, particularly in managing vendor relationships and securing favorable contract terms.
