GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides task and technical leadership, guidance, and support to maintenance staff. Ensures all maintenance activities meet established maintenance and safety standards. Supervise, mentor and train department staff. Oversees all environmental systems and central systems, including IS014001 certification, ensuring compliance with all applicable Local, State, and Federal regulations. Encompasses Spartan’s Core Operating Values in daily activities which contributes to the attainment of operational metrics / goals and strong team member relations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Leads and coordinates daily department tasks and activities, ensuring effective distribution of work, timely completion of tasks, and quality of work and safety standards/goals are met.
- Leads and handles maintenance services, including preventative/predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and performance improvement for machinery/equipment to minimize downtime and achieve productivity goals.
- Interacts with various departments and plant staff to resolve machinery issues, reduce repetitive issues that affect uptime and throughput, and to meet production schedules.
- Utilizes ERP system to track work order performance, optimize data collection on downtime and failure modes, and generate reports to drive improvements.
- Reviews machine runtime versus maintenance downtime reports, oil consumption reports, machine maintenance cost reports, and other data available. Works with maintenance team to identify issues and solutions, and create a continuous improvement (C/I) plan.
- Schedules preventive maintenance on building and grounds, including preventive maintenance on dock, sprinklers, and fire extinguishers. Contacts vendors, gathers quotes, and schedules work. Coordinates security of facility.
- Performs hands-on repair and maintenance tasks, while providing guidance and support to maintenance staff.
- Coordinates housekeeping activities. Conducts general plant walk-throughs to identify housekeeping and building maintenance issues that could cause a potential safety or environmental issue. Performs weekly and monthly audits.
- Manages and performs duties in central operations. Maintains air compressors and dryers, cooling towers, and HVAC systems. Handles and oversees operational tasks for the wastewater facility at the LMP plant.
- Manages all environmental safety and legal compliance activities including,
- Obtaining/maintaining required permits, such as wastewater, storm water permit, and air permit,
- Obtaining/maintaining landfill certification of wastes and renewal testing, and Tier II/Form R submittals.
- Maintains IS014001 certification and compliance with EPA. Prepares for annual audits, implements corrective actions from audits, works with consultants on EPA reports, submits EPA reports, and collects/submits lab samples.
- Manages waste streams. Schedules pick-ups, coordinates waste testing, and completes required forms.
- Performs project management duties, ensuring the project scope, goals and deliverables support the required outcome(s).
- Collaborates with the purchasing department to ensure competitive pricing on materials/parts and timely delivery.
- Creates and maintains an equipment evaluation and maintenance system process to identify equipment condition, equipment life, and long-term costs and to create a cyclical repair schedule.
- Supports lean manufacturing initiatives with effective department performance and equipment oversight.
- Contributes to and supports the existence of a positive work environment through personal involvement by communicating, interacting and behaving in a manner that promotes productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and others with whom such relationships are important to the success of company operations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
·High School Diploma or GED
·3-5 years of related work experience
·Completion of advanced training in machine maintenance, including, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, and CNC
·1 years team lead experience (demonstrated leadership skills in current or former job may be substituted for experience)
Preferred:
Required:
·High School Diploma or GED
·3-5 years of related work experience
·Completion of advanced training in machine maintenance, including, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, and CNC
·1 years team lead experience (demonstrated leadership skills in current or former job may be substituted for experience)
Preferred:
-NADCA Maintenance Certification or similar certification.
