Supervises and coordinates the activities of Quality Control/Assurance to ensure compliance with quality and productiongoals, including accountability for product quality, quality system compliance and customer-related issues. Encompasses Spartan’s Core Operating Values in daily activities and in the attainment of team performance and operational metrics.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Supervises the activities of department team members, processes and procedures, and audits. Ensures all activities are performed in conformance to established quality standards and customer requirements.
Plant Quality Assurance Activities:
Leading analysis and organized solution to problems
Control Plan Insurance and Quality Gates Audits
Nonconformance material administration
Nonconformance material disposition
Inspection, measurement and test.
Standard Work Audit
Product Audit
Process Audit
Metrology
Oversees and measures overall team performance in all areas of quality operations, including:
Ensuring quality management program procedures, control plans, work instructions, set-up sheets are properly followed.
Reducing customer identified defects through execution of the quality plans measured through
PR & R’s, QR, etc. and externals sorts. Early detection of defects to minimize internal sorts.
Team skills development in associated quality roles, interpretation of quality data, customer requirements, system requirements, and ability to convert data into actions and opportunities.
Team participation in conversion cost waste reductions.
Works closely with Production, Operations and Engineering to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality, which includes making decisions to suspend machine operations and/or stop shipments when there are quality issues and identifiable defects.
Supervises audit activities by following in-process and finished product audit work instructions and by ensuring the products manufactured meet and/or exceed customer expectations.
Prepares third-party audits and ongoing compliance audits to maintain continuous certification to quality system standards.
Provides technical support and interpretation of all documented procedures and work instructions reflecting the requirements of plant quality system standards.
Ensures department information is communicated by:
Informing team members of customer, quality, product, delivery, and team performance issues and communicates solutions.
Informing Shift Facilitators of critical events, problems, conflicting priorities, etc., to ensure more effective decisions can be made for the entire facility.
Initiating plant-wide documentation and communication on customers’ quality issues received during each shift.
Assists Quality Manager with department operations, quality system performance and reporting.
Contributes to and supports the existence of a positive work environment through personal involvement by communicating, interacting and behaving in a manner that promotes productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and others with whom such relationships are important to the success of company operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Engineering / Bachelor Degree Diploma / GED
Preferred: 7 years related work experience in Quality Assurance
4 years in a quality team lead or supervisory position
Technical quality and auditing experience with quality management systems QS, TS, or ISO
Technical quality experience with PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and costs of quality
Associate’s Degree or Certification in Quality Technology or working towards attainment
Continuous Improvement, Lean – Six Sigma training.
