Job Responsibilities
The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for administering health benefits, retirement, and leave benefits while complying with state and federal laws.
- Manages Benefits Administration for the College to include : meeting with employees regarding employee insurance and retirement benefits; assisting employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations; monitoring for and distributing information and updates on benefits from PEBA; ensuring COBRA information is appropriately disseminated; counsel employees on the retirement process; ensure that all deductions are correctly entered into Colleague; coordinate enrollment, changes, and terminations with third-party vendors, audit membership rosters; ensure all benefit updates are timely and properly processed; and maintains up-to-date knowledge of rules and regulates that pertain to benefits (FLSA, ACA, etc.) and advise supervisor of changes.
- Responsible for Benefits Orientation deck; works closely with HR Specialist to support benefit communications during onboarding.
- Assists retirees with information and applications. Advises supervisor of any impending retirement decisions.
- Works with payroll administrator to compare payroll register to benefits rosters at least three times per year (January, April, August). New enrollments and changes must be entered by the 15th of the effective month. Process changes within one week of receipt.
- Manages Leave Administration for the College to include : managing and maintaining the web-based leave system for all full-time faculty and staff; assisting and communicating with employees the various policies and procedures pertaining to leave; ensuring payroll is updated with any changes in pay due to leave; audit leave usage; prepare leave reports; manage FMLA usage, compliance paperwork, and make qualification determination for eligibility using federal guidelines; and maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulations pertaining to leave (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and advise supervisor of changes.
- Completes mandatory ACA compliance reporting for the College, including part-time employee eligibility measurement, 1095-C generation and distribution, and 1094-C generation and upload to the IRS. Monitors measurement of temporary employees' eligibility for benefits.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and professional experience with insurance or retirement programs.
