Job Responsibilities
TRIO Student Support Services, TGP : Part-time Peer Tutors : provide academic assistance to a diverse population of students through individual and / or small group tutoring sessions, use effective instructional strategies to review key concepts, demonstrate problem solving strategies, reinforce study skills, and prepare students for tests. Responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records, effectively communicating student progress with TRIO Student Support Services staff while maintaining student confidentiality and participating in appropriate professional development opportunities to include orientation and training workshops.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Applicants must be recommended by at least two instructors and / or staff members; have transcripts reflecting knowledge in subject (letter grades of an A or B) for the class being tutored; and must be in good academic and financial standing with the College. All Peer Tutors must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
Peer Tutors must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
