Essential Functions
- Primarily responsible for providing superior customer service daily to patrons of all ages at a busy public service desk on the main floor of the building, fielding questions about library resources, materials, digital devices, and offering suggestions
- Assists in requests, maintenance, setups and troubleshooting of audio-visual equipment for patrons & staff
- Provides patron support and troubleshooting for the library’s streaming and downloadable collections
- Responsible for maintaining an attractive space in the Fiction, Movie, Television and Video Game areas at the Headquarters Library, including collections, displays, and signage
- Regularly plans, promotes, presents and analyzes quality programs that meet the needs and interests of adults
- Attends regular training related to adult services and other library work, and may assist at other desks across the system as needed
- Participates in department meetings, Adult Services Committee meetings, and online discussions
- Assists the Assistant Director of Multimedia & Fiction and the Director of Adult Services with implementation of departmental and systemwide projects
- Maintains awareness of & completes ongoing training regarding safety and security for all in the building
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Broad knowledge of entertainment for adults, from books, comics and manga to games, movies and television, plus an ongoing interest in pop culture and technology
- Strong skills and ability to work with a variety of digital devices, software and audio-visual equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, a sense of humor, with the ability to interact with people from all backgrounds and age groups
- Excellent writing skills with a strong grasp of grammar and ability to structure descriptions of events and materials
- Creative, flexible and organized with good time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to take direction and work independently or with a team, plus strong work ethic and initiative
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive to other libraries or for community outreach
Salary : $2,305
