POSITION : Elementary Music Teacher, 2025-2026
LOCATION : Lyman Elementary / Wellford Academy of Technology
QUALIFICATIONS : Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate
REPORTS TO : Building Principal
GENERAL SUMMARY :
Under general supervision assists students in learning subject matter and / or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Fulfill instructional objectives at respective school
- Fulfill, in cooperation and oversight with the District Director of Fine Arts, instruction and performance of all students at the respective school. The ensembles of the respective school will perform in all of the required yearly performances as identified in the District Five Ensemble Performance Requirements, unless excused by the principal.
- Fulfill recruiting and retention of all chorus students at the respective school
- Attend monthly music staff meetings.
- Maintain all appropriate professional memberships and affiliations, (NAfME, SCMEA) This includes attending association meetings and participating in association business.
- Administration of the local music budget at the respective school, with oversight from the principal and District Director of Fine Arts.
- Present him / herself at all times as an advocate for District Five Schools in general and the arts program in particular.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned by the principal of the respective school.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting / moving of items up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
