Spartanburg Day School is currently seeking a School Nurse for the 2025-2026 school year. Spartanburg Day School is a nationally recognized, nonsectarian school, enrolling approximately 580 students aged 2 to Grade 12. Spartanburg Day School offers a vast array of academic and co-curricular options in a charming college town that is growing in the attractive South Carolina Upstate. Spartanburg Day School opened its doors in 1957 as the first independent school in Upstate South Carolina. More than 65 years later, our unique community provides approximately 580 students in grades 2K -12 with an unparalleled educational experience.
The School Nurse, is responsible for all issues related to the health and welfare of students (k2 - 12) and employees. The position also serves as a clinical assistant to the Director of Griffin Clinic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Provides nursing care to ill or injured students or staff during the school day.
- Assists with in-service training initiatives including CPR, bloodborne pathogens & first aid.
- Assist the provider with exams and minor office procedures.
- Utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive services.
- Performs CLIA waived tests (Flu, COVID, RSV, Strep)
- Initiates contact with, and acts as a liaison between, home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by a healthcare provider.
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education:
- Registered nurse (RN) certification, required
- Current nursing license, required
- Current First Aid and CPR certification required
Experience:
- Professional nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting
- Experience in COVID protocols, contact tracing, up to date CDC Guidelines
Skills:
- Knowledge of children’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Highly motivated with outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create and maintain an environment conducive to learning.
- Demonstrates sensitivity, good judgment and confidentiality in working with students and parents.
- Strong organizational skills.
