POSITION : Middle Level Instructional Coach
LOCATION : Florence ChapelMiddle School
QUALIFICATIONS : Valid SC certification in middle level / secondary / elementary; Master's Degree Required
REPORTS TO : Building Principal and Director of Secondary Education
GENERAL SUMMARY :
The Middle School Instructional Coach will support teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies, curriculum alignment, and professional growth. The coach will collaborate with educators to enhance student learning outcomes, provide professional development, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. The coach will work directly with teachers in a school to provide classroom-based instruction, collaborative and one-on-one support, and facilitate teacher inquiry and related professional development. The coach will focus on enhancing teachers' ability to provide instruction that builds students' sense of engagement in the ownership of learning. The coach will also work with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret data, and use data to guide instructional decisions.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Attend all required professional development as required by the district
- Stay current with education research and trends, sharing resources and strategies with staff
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies aligned with school and district goals
- Provide ongoing coaching, modeling, and feedback to support high-quality teaching practices
- Lead and facilitate professional development based on best practices and identified needs of the school and / or teachers
- Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional materials
- Analyze student achievement data and work to inform instruction and identify areas for growth
- Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Foster a collaborative professional learning community among staff
- Participate in school leadership meetings and contribute to school improvement planning and implementation
- Maintain accurate records of coaching cycles and professional development activities
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting / moving of items up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel is required; occasional overnight travel is required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
