What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System?
Job Summary
Performs venipuncture and collects other specimens for laboratory testing. Label specimen containers accurately, deliver to proper destination in a timely manner and perform order entry duties as required. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatric. Compliance: understands and complies with the Standards of Behavior and department policies, procedures and regulations.
Job Requirements
Education
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
Experience
- The skill to draw an average of 7 patients per hour within the first 90 days of employment.
- Proficient in the use of Lab. Info. Sys. Within the first 90 days of employment.
License/Registration/Certifications
- Must be ASCP eligible
