Crawford Industries, now a part of Spartech, LLC has an opening for an Auto Die Cut Operator on our team in Crawfordsville, IN. The Crawfordsville operation of the organization specializes in extruding and converting flat plastic sheet. Plastic sheet may have graphics added and the die cut into license plates, the “lamp shade” used in veterinary clinics, signage, file folders, 3-ring binders, covers for school date books, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products. Come join our Die Cut team as they cut material to help create all kinds of products for our customers.
General Summary and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Sets-up and operates an automatic die cutter.
Key Responsibilities to include:
- Check job traveler for each job as assigned to confirm set-up and materials furnished will yield product required.
- Makes complete set-up for the job on the appropriate press.
- Operates the press in an efficient, safe manner.
- Detects equipment problems before they become major breakdowns.
- Makes repairs to dies.
- Locate, correct, and repair minor screen problems such as pinholes.
- Make appropriate adjustments during the run to ensure quality of product produced.
- Accurately report all direct and indirect labor activities.
Required Skills/Experience:
- High School diploma or experience demonstrating equivalent skills and abilities
- Three (3) to five (5) years of die cutting experience, preferred
- Basic math skills
- Able to read and use a tape measure and micrometer
- Basic mechanical skills
- Frequently lift up to 60 pounds
- Able to use a hand truck to move materials
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to wear appropriate PPE –gloves, safety glasses, bump cap, hearing protection, and safety toed shoes.
This position reports to the Converting Supervisor.
