Production Planner

Spartech, LLC is looking for a Production Planner to join our team in Crawfordsville, IN. The Crawfordsville operation of the organization specializes in extruding and converting flat plastic sheet. The flat plastic sheet can then be converted into different products. It may have graphics added, then die cut into license plates, the “lamp shade” dogs need to wear after a visit to the veterinary clinic, signage, file folders, 3-ring binders, covers for school date books, packaging, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products.
The Planner evaluates and edits standards, converted jobs for accuracy and repeatability. Establishes new routings and bill of materials in the system for custom products. Requests new tooling for product and reviews routings and bill of materials for accuracy and continuity.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Keep a close working relationship with Product Engineering to ensure continuity and quality in our product.
- Keep a good working relationship with Customer Service to help ensure accurate and necessary information is recorded.
- Determines if new dies are necessary, requests new die from Product Engineering or provides existing die drawing for distribution to shop floor.
- Prepares a new quote if the final process, as determined by Engineering on actual job, is different from the original quoted process.
- Evaluates Bills of Materials to make sure necessary parts are requested for the job.
- Accurately plan converted, custom, and BOM jobs, assigning necessary materials, operations, and comments
- Keep accurate records and files for rates and methods as established by Industrial Engineering
- Follows all safety and plant rules.
- Maintains good housekeeping.
Knowledge:
Personal computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, or demonstrate ability to learn. Must be able to read die prints.
Experience:
Must have five (5) years’ Custom Products Division experience or an equivalent amount of manufacturing process experience.
Special Skills, Licenses, or Equipment:
- Working knowledge of keyboard and calculator.
- Comprehension of basic math skills.
- Must be able to use decimal/fraction conversion table.
- Demonstrated the ability to work with tight turnaround times.
- Demonstrated the ability to work without direct supervision.
