What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Manager position at Sparton Corporation?
Position Objective
The Facilities Maintenance Manger reports directly to the Director of Security/Facilities/EHS. The Facilities Maintenance Manager will ensure the efficient maintenance and operation of all plant equipment, facilities, and communications equipment and service. Manage and direct the design, specification, and coordination of all new facility construction, alteration, and renovation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the planning and control of company space, equipment, and facilities, ensuring optimum efficiency within structural, mechanical, and electrical allowable limitations.
- Evaluate and recommend ways of improving existing plant facilities or the estimated need for new facilities. Assure the efficient preparation of engineering studies, layouts, cost estimates, designs, drawings, and schedules for facility improvements or new construction.
- Assure the efficient upkeep and repair of buildings, the maintenance of shop equipment, the performance of building alterations, the maintenance of HVAC and electrical systems, and other related activities.
- Ensure that the plant conforms with all federal and state regulations concerning plant operating safety and the environment.
- Assure efficient plant housekeeping and general maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Coordinate the selection and procurement of outside contractors for specific construction or alteration requirements.
- Coordinate the planning, selection, and efficient operation of all communications equipment, ensuring efficient communications service.
- Consult with Company management on long range facilities planning. Provide all pertinent information as necessary for estimates of proposed facilities additions or changes.
- Provide Company management with projections of future facilities requirements based on short- and long-range business plans.
- Select, train and develop subordinates. Assign work for most efficient utilization of personnel, reviewing their activities to assure quality performance. Make appropriate promotional and salary recommendations.
- Supervise personnel responsible for facility compliance regarding all Federal, State and local environmental rules and regulations, with particular attention to actions or failure to act that may result in non-compliance. Report as necessary to the President all environmental compliance issues.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or discipline in a trade school or college related degree in facilities management or mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing.
- 10 years related experience in industrial and/or commercial maintenance and proficient in the above areas.
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- High School Diploma or GED is required
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
