Position Objective

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) II works closely with Procurement, Supply Chain Management, and most importantly Sparton Suppliers, to ensure the purchased materials meet our engineering specifications. Additionally, the SQE will monitor the supplier performance scores and work with suppliers to continuously improve their performance of
on-time delivery and product quality. This role will involve up to 20% travel to Supplier sites.
 
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform regular Supplier audits on manufacturing and QMS processes to ensure their compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures and the
  • ISO-9001/AS9100 standard.
  • Verify and approve supplier first article submission in compliance to AS9102.
  • Execute Supplier related continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing their process variation, improving defect prevention and detection, and enhanced product reliability.
  • Lead Quality Investigation Report (QIR) and Supplier Corrective Action Report
  • (SCAR) to assist Supplier in investigating root causes and implementing actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Collaborate with Production personnel, Quality Engineers, and Program Engineers to identify purchased product failures and specification gaps.
  • Create and implement plans for incoming inspection requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between Sparton Management and Suppliers to identify product quality issues and solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze supplier performance trend to effectively improve the Supplier’s on-time delivery and to mitigate product quality failure risk.
Required Education and Experience
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Engineering or Quality related field, OR a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum 5 years of experience in Supplier Relationship Management activities and root cause analysis/problem solving.
  • Minimum 3 years of developing Supplier production processes.
  • Current certification, or pursuit of, an ASQ Quality Auditor preferred.
  • Current certification of ISO9001 or AS9100 Internal Auditor.
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams and ability to lead supplier related projects in a flexible and fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience in supplier audits and corrective action plans.
  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis techniques: 8D, 3X5Y, Ishikawa diagrams.
  • In depth knowledge of Circuit Card Assemblies and electronic assemblies, ESD handling, and packaging a plus.
  • Certification or working knowledge of STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC-600 required.
  • Working knowledge of product qualification testing, first article inspection, inspection tools and equipment, supplier quality activities, and statistical process analysis.
  • Experience in peer review of common engineering documents such as 2D drawings and testing specifications.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite: focus on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience in Oracle EBS a plus.
