Position Objective
The systems engineer will lead system and subsystem level design/requirements generation, development, decomposition, design analyses, operational concept definition, and traceability for the total system design. These individuals will be experts of understanding the system development lifecycle, performing functional analysis, allocating requirements, and acting as the primary interface to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

These individuals will be experts of understanding the system development lifecycle, performing functional analysis, allocating requirements, and acting as the primary interface to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead customer interactions in regard to influencing and understanding Voice of the Customer and product requirements
- Define and execute trade studies that result in selection of the most optimal approach to complex design and architecture issues. Engage with suppliers to evaluate candidate solutions.
- Performs workforce planning and resource allocation in coordination with Engineering Functional Leadership and Engineering Business Unit Leads
- Fully understands systems engineering process
- Support proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost estimating, and presentation activities
- Review, develop, and document system level requirements, CONOPS, and mission statements
- Work with all technical functions to develop and document product architectures that meet technical, cost and schedule goals
- Perform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems design
- Ability to effectively document and communicate designs, results, reports, and presentations
- Produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards
- Research, conceptualize, and evaluate complex system architectures and product designs, recommend design modifications to improve product performance, cost, reliability, and development schedule (can be activity lead or in supporting role)
- Lead system integration efforts including hands-on evaluation of prototypes
- Plan and support verification and validation activities for complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
- Prepare and/or deliver technical presentations to customers, both internal and external
- Provide regular and clear communication to customers and subcontractors
- Work independently and with internal/external organizations.
- Recommend tools to improve systems engineering design processes and procedures
- Fully understand internal systems engineering procedures
Required Education and Experience
- 4-year degree from an accredited university STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Preferably Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science or System Engineering or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience; or Masters’ degree and 5 years of related experience
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant field experience with design engineering.
- Experience with the JAMA Connect or other modern requirements management tools
- Experience with requirements derivatives, required.
Required Qualifications
- Capability to adapt to industry wide standard modeling and requirements management tools
- CMMI, AS 9100, and ISO 900 process development experience
- Familiar with Jira for issue tracking and supporting Agile development methodologies, collaborating with Agile teams and support of team demonstrations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Teams
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
