We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Manager to oversee operations in a dynamic environment focused on animal husbandry and larval production . The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in genetics, animal husbandry, data collection, inventory management and managing employees. This role requires excellent leadership skills, the ability to manage a team effectively, and a commitment to maintaining high standards for larval production.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations and ensure compliance with safety and sterilization protocols.
- Manage staff schedules, training, and performance evaluations to foster a productive work environment.
- Oversee oyster handling procedures, ensuring proper techniques are used
- Monitor the whole larval culturing process from spawning to setting
- Coordinate sampling and other assessment procedures while maintaining accurate records.
- Implement best practices in animal husbandry to promote health and well-being among the oysters.
- Collaborate with other managers and other professionals to develop plans for oyster needs.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
- Maintain inventory of supplies necessary for operations

This Assistant Manager position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about oysters. Spat-Tech is an oyster hatchery located in Perkinston, Mississippi. At Spat Tech our main goal is coastal restoration. We raise larvae to a settable size, and set at our setting facility. We then deploy these set oysters to the Gulf where they will live out the rest of their days and filter the Gulf! We are a small company of 23 employees and looking to grow. We produce roughly 1.5B oysters a year, but would like to improve on that.
