Job Summary:
The Director of Fund Development in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors will be responsible for developing and implementing the development strategy for Spay Neuter Network. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Fund Development will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events.
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials and speak publicly.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers.
- Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
- Experience with the MS Office and Excel.
- A deep commitment to the mission and values of our organization.
- A love for animals.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to create a fund development plan that increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization.
- Identify and cultivate all potential donors, major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors.
- Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
- Collaborate with the Marketing/Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
- Provide development reports to the Executive Director and other agencies, and Board meetings as requested.
- Assist the Board with recommending and researching potential new major donor members.
- Collaborate internally to develop budgets, monitor and forecast revenue and expenses, and drive financial results.
- Build a donor communications plan which ensures ongoing awareness, education and support.
- Develop a comprehensive planned-giving program as the need becomes appropriate.
- Develop and manage timelines for varies fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
- Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization.
