Qualifications :
- Two years of mechanical service, equipment startup, or Commissioning experience.
Current driver's license.
Must be able to travel throughout regional projects.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Maintain a high level of understanding of total HVAC and Plumbing installation and operation, equipment
capabilities, and controls systems architecture and sequences.
Have an understanding of system start-up, test and balancing, commissioning and diagnosis.
Must have a high level of skill in troubleshooting of multiple trades and types of systems such as :
Electrical circuits and systemControl components and systemsMechanical equipment such as Chillers, Cooling Towers, Air Handling Units and Fans Plumbing equipment such as air compressors, vacuum pumps, and sump pumpsHydronic systems and componentsAir flow dynamics and componentsHave overall ability to accurately diagnose and report problem situations.Understand and stay current with industry trends and standards.Full EPA certification required.Ability to read and interpret documents.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Brazing with Nitrogen Purge.Assembly and disassembly of various pieces of equipment.Activation of equipment and ability to find startup requirements in the Installation Manual.Supervisory Responsibilities :
LEADERSHIP : Ability to lead crew in the direction most productive for timely completion of the job while following
project commissioning process.
Motivate the crew to highest level.
DOCUMENTATION :
Completes startup forms for equipment as required.Works with factory startup technicians and obtains forms as required.Keeps file in a concise orderly manner.Documents all job-related occurrences.Keeps a daily record.Uses Autodesk Build for QC / QA processes.Essential Functions : Include the following but not limited to :
1. STARTUP
Assist in piping system flushing and complete documentation for the flushing activities.Activate and document starting conditions of equipment.Adjust equipment setting such that it will operate per design drawings and specifications.Verify that equipment is ready to be started by vendor.Troubleshoot issues with equipment or system operation and provide solution.2. COMMISSIONING
Assist in pre-testing of controls and DDC point-to-point and logic sequencing.Complete required Commissioning documentation. Assist in communication of Commissioning issues to SPC's team.Assist Commissioning Agent while they are onsite with any needs or questions they may have.Execute and assist with coordination of Owner Training.3. QA / QC
Participates in Autodesk Build QA / QC punchlists.Assigns punchlist items to appropriate field superintendent.Closes out completed punchlist items.4. QUALITY OF WORK
Demands the highest quality installation possible within the boundaries of the budget and schedule.Can personally show the crew members the quality expected of SPC Mechanical.5. PLANNING
Works with PM to plan, schedule, and coordinate all start-up and commissioning processes of assigned projects.Works with other trades on critical path.Proficient in the use of special tools or equipment such as flow meters, flow hoods, temp cooling etc.6. CUSTOMER SERVICE
Displays a courteous and professional manner to customers and their representatives.Understands the value of each customer to SPC Mechanical regardless of the size or scope of the job.Ensures that the start-up crew is conducting themselves in a professional manner.7. DOCUMENTATION
Keeps files in a concise orderly manner.Completes startup documentation to be included in turnover packages.Documents all job-related occurrences.Keeps a daily record.8. TRADE STANDARDS
Is knowledgeable of trade standards in general as well as SPC Mechanical standards in particular.Displays the ability to find solutions to problems.When required to do so, provides technical assistance for the best application for a particular installation.9. MATERIAL AND EXPENSE CONTROL
Procures material as needed to complete tasks within contract scope such as :Special wiring as neededRefrigerant for Dx StartupGlycol as requiredMiscellaneous parts for repairsPhysical Demands :
