The Electronics Associate plays a key role in supporting the mission of our nonprofit thrift store by ensuring donated electronics are processed, tested, and priced fairly for resale. This position involves hands-on work with a variety of donated electronic items, including entertainment systems, small appliances, computers, and accessories. The Electronics Associate helps maximize the value of donations by accurately evaluating and preparing items for sale, contributing to both environmental sustainability and community support efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort and Process Donations:
Receive and organize incoming electronic donations.
Identify items that can be resold, recycled, or need to be safely discarded.
Testing and Inspection:
Test all electronic items to ensure they function properly and are safe to use.
Clean items as needed and ensure all accessories (cords, remotes, etc.) are included when possible.
Pricing and Research:
Research current resale values of electronic items using online platforms (e.g., eBay sold listings, Amazon, etc.).
Price items fairly based on condition, brand, age, and demand.
Stocking and Merchandising:
Organize and stock tested electronics on the sales floor in an appealing and accessible manner.
Maintain clean, safe, and well-organized work and display areas.
Customer Support:
Occasionally assist customers with questions about electronics.
Communicate basic product information and functionality to team members and customers when needed.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow safety protocols for handling electronics, including those with batteries or potential hazards.
Stay informed about product recalls or items that cannot be sold.
