Kennel Assistant
We are looking for a part-time Kennel Assistant to join the SPCA of Wake County’s medical team to help make a difference in our community and homeless pets’ lives!


Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour with scheduled salary increases at anniversary of hire date

Schedule: Typically 1:00pm -5:00pm Monday-Friday but may change depending on the needs of the SPCA.

Location: This position will be mainly at the Saving Lives Spay and Neuter Clinic but will also need to be able to help with cleaning in the tx room at the Pet Adoption Center as well.

Overview:

Responsibilities include following proper disease control protocols while cleaning kennels; maintaining a clean facility; laundry; and general cleaning of the clinic and treatment areas. This position requires working closely with the Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistants, Medical team, and other staff on a daily basis.


Daily duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Perform daily cleaning of kennels, cages and public areas, following proper disease control protocol to ensure a sterile environment.
  2. Keep Medical Staff informed of any animal behavior or health concerns.
  3. Stock all kennel/cleaning supplies as needed.
  4. Spot-clean kennels and public areas throughout the day as needed.
  5. Clean, fold, and stock kennel laundry throughout the clinic.
  6. Assist with closing duties as well as weekly and monthly cleaning checklists.


Also required of all applicants:  Excellent interpersonal skills and friendliness!  A positive attitude and collaborative, team-oriented spirit!  A strong history of reliability and stable employment.  A passion for the mission of the SPCA of Wake County: To transform the lives of pets and people through protection, care, education, and adoption.

  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a positive, fun and meaningful environment.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds throughout the day. Must be able to carry heavier loads with assistance.
  • Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.
