The SPCA Westchester is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to providing care, saving the lives of and finding loving homes for animals in need. It is our mission to save homeless, abused and abandoned animals. We are committed to educating the community and inspiring respect and compassion towards animals and enforcing humane laws.
We are currently seeking an energetic and experienced Development Associate to join our team and support our mission.
In collaboration with the CEO and Director of Development, the Development Associate will assist and support staff with fundraising and administrative tasks. The successful Development Associate will have of 1-2 years of proven experience in nonprofit fundraising.
This is a part-time position, 20 hours a week.
Responsibilities
· Enter contributions and maintain records in Etapestry, SPCA Westchester’s donor management software.
· Merge, print, personalize and mail donor acknowledgement letters and notifications.
· Generate and organize reports for various departments and assist with research and data entry in Donor Search.
· Collaborate with the Development team to write content for various communications including eblasts, social media posts and donor proposals.
· Assist in the planning and organizing of development activities such as fundraising and outreach events.
· Attend offsite events as an SPCA representative to further the SPCA’s mission and to cultivate new supporters, adopters and volunteers.
· Respond to phone and email inquiries from current and potential supporters.
· Perform additional administrative duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 1-2 years of experience in Development.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong communication, writing, organizational and follow up skills.
- Be a self-starter and work independently.
- Proven ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced environment while prioritizing multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
- Must be a collaborative and positive team player with a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of fundraising software.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
- Must be able to work 1-2 weekend days a month, when needed.
